Hit and Run Leaves Teen in Critical Condition

Marco Ledesma, 19, from Los Angeles was walking on Commercy Way in Santa Bella on Tuesday when he was struck by a car driven by Richard Wideman. Ledesma was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
Wideman was later arrested and is being held on charges of alleged drunk driving. Since Wideman is believed to have been under the influence while driving and he left the scene, he may be charged with felony hit and run.

Big Rig Causes Major Crash Involving 9 Vehicles in Los Angeles

On New Year’s Eve, a big rig truck containing hazardous materials caused a major accident on Interstate 5 involving nine other cars. 27 people were injured in the crash and many were transported to nearby hospitals via helicopter and ambulance.
The California Highway Patrol shut down the freeway causing major delays. The big rig truck finally stopped after crashing into a center divider. An investigation into the cause of the accident is still underway. It is not clear why the truck driver failed to stop the big rig after the initial impact.

Van Rollover Accident in Wilmington Ends in Tragedy

Yesterday morning a van rollover crash occurred on the 110 freeway in Wilmington near Torrance. The accident resulted in the death of two individuals and injuries to four others. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the crash and treated survivers on scene while transporting them to a nearby hospital.
Reports have indicated that the two deceased were an elderly couple in their 70’s. However in a recent update to the crash on the 110 freeway, it is believed that the victims were Sheryl Thacker, 38 and Carmela Rodriguez, 64.

Head-On Motorcycle Accident on Glendora Mountain Road

Earlier this week two motorcycles travelling in opposite directions collided in a horrific accdient on Glendora Mountain Road.
The injured victims are John Cincent Portlock of Claremont and Chamnan Bun of Pomona. Portlock suffered more serious injures and was in critical condition when transported to Huntington Hospital by helicopter.
While the CHP is still investigating this accident, it is believed that the crash occurred near a curve and that one of the motorcyclist crossed over into the opposite flow of traffic.
Last week, a similar motorcycle accident occurred on this very same road just a few miles away.

Tractor Trailer Truck Accident on Interstate 15

A big-rig tractor trailor lost control and crashed on Interstatey 15 near Rancho Cucamonga on this Christmas eve. The highway was shut down for more than two hours as emergency reponse teams worked quickly to clear the wreckage.
The driver of the truck was seriously injured and had to be air-lifted to a nearby hospital. The CHP is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash and the driver’s condition has not been released yet.

Major Car Accident on Highway 46 Leaves One Critically Injured

Ruth Meeks, 48 of Bakersfield was involved in a major head-on collision last night on Highway 46 just north of Los Angeles. The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of this accident however, it is reported that another vehicle was making a dangerous lane change in order to pass a vehicle ahead and struck Meeks car.
The other party was not injured in the crash. Meeks was taken to nearby Kern Medical Center.

Pedestrian Killed by Car in Santa Ana

Gilbert Vasquez, 25, of Santa Ana was killed when he was struck crossing the street by a car traveling on 17th Street and Tustin Avenue. The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating the accident and has not yet determined the cause of the crash.
Vasquez was pronounced dead at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
Pedestrian Accidents are generally not caused by the pedestrian themselves. The intersection which this accident took place is a large four-way intersection with many turning lanes and signals.

Airplane Crash in Denver ; More than 40 Injured

Last night, A Continental Airlines flight leaving Denver, Colorado ran off the runway and crashed as it was trying to takeoff. There were 112 passengers onboard as the plane was departing for Houston. Just as the plane tried to take-off, it slammed back onto the runway causing the plane to crash into a ravine.
The fuselage collapsed causing the right-side of the plane to burn. Passengers and crew members escaped using the emergency inflatable slides as emergency crews worked to put out the blaze.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are on the scene and an investigation has already began. The cause of the crash is unknown, and airline crash investigations can can years to conclude.

Orange County Adult School Roof Collapses; Injures at Least 13 People

North Orange County Regional Occupational School aka North ROP Career and Technical Institute of Orange was the scene of a horrific roof collapse earlier this morning. Located in Anaheim California just 30 minutes south of Los Angeles, adult classes were under-way at the North Orange County Regional Occupational Center. While students were inside the classroom and the heavy rainfall continued throughout the night, a malfunctioning drain caused water to collect on the roof of one of the classrooms. Part of the roof as well as an air conditioning unit fell into the classroom. An instructor was trapped under debris until removed by rescue teams.
Those injured have been taken to local hospitals and are being treated for various injuries. The City of Anaheim website states that there was a building permit that was taken out for a new roof in August 2007. It is unclear whether the roof was ever replaced.

Fatal Crash on Highway 15 – Two Semi-Trucks Crush Passenger Vehicle

This morning, the Southbound I-15 freeway was shut down after a Toyota was crushed in-between two tractor-trailer big-rig trucks. The driver of the Toyota was killed in the accident.
As the winter storm passed through Southern California, heavy rain and snow throughout the Victor Valley and Cajon Pass made driving on the highways extremely difficult. As traffic was coming to a halt, the Toyota slowed behind a semi-truck and was hit at what appears to be a high-speed. The Semi-truck rear-ended the Toyota smashing it against the big-rig in front.
